Brian Lake is a former AFL star who played for the Western Bulldogs and Hawthorn Football Club before his retirement at the end of the 2015 season. The award-winning defender commenced his career with the Dogs in 2002, where he was drafted the previous year with pick number 71.

Playing a total of 251 games, Lake spent 11 years at Footscray, in which time he became known as one of the best full-backs in the game at the time. This skill and talent saw him named in the All-Australian team in 2009 and 2010.

Lake, in 2012, was traded to the Hawthorn Football Club after nearly 200 games with the bulldogs, where he played his final three years of AFL football with great personal and team success. The Hawks won their first of three premierships in 2013, with Lake winning the Norm Smith Medal for best on ground in the grand final. Lake was also part of the 2014 and 2015 premiership-winning side.

After football, Lake was part of Fox Footy’s team of commentators and also took part in reality tv series, Australian Survivor: Champions vs Contenders in 2018. Lake managed to survive until the final three.
